Bringing in moments of colour with restraint, the selection of the ideal green was inspired by the landscape, offering a further connection between the built and the natural elements on site. It is through a simplicity, and a simplification of its parts, that the design came together, capturing the young family who live within. As key features, the timber panelled wall was salvaged and rehomed from a previous home and sitting centrally is a steel painted spiral stair as its own Modernist sculpture of sorts.
By retaining the existing fabric of the home, and integrating these elements into the new addition, the genesis of the home is celebrated and extended through a contemporary lens. Capturing a casual sensibility in all its openness, materiality, and integration of natural elements, the home is enveloping and welcoming throughout.
